Teaching English in Islamic Way

English is an important language today. By using English, we can learn many things globally. However, there are some groups of people who keep thinking that learning English is futile and even doesn’t have to do with our religion, Islam. Here, we as the teacher should clear those misinterpretations. Actualy, we are able to gain many advanteges by studying English in a suit method. Moreover, if we use islamic methodology, it will be more usefull, both in language and islamic language. Then the most important thing to teach this way is by implying it to islamic activities. There are at least 4 ways to teach english by using islamic way.

First is  for raeding skill, teachers should give student the text completed by picture. It doesn’t always for the kindergarten student, but the advanced level student also need  pictures to connect their understanding with the text given. The text itself can be various, start from the short story of islamic leaders or the islamic history events. The more they read, the better they pronounce English vocabularies.

The second is for writing skill. This is the time for students to explore themselves writing English. Teacher ought to give an interesting topic to write, so that students are willing to write pleasantly and joyfully. One of the topic can be about their habits on facing Ramadhan or Eid Mubarak. Those are purposed to bring their daily life to the class.

Third is listening skill. Teacher are suggested to give students some islamic famous songs. They can erase several words so students need to listen carefully to fill in the blank vocabularies. This way of laering is strongly attractive because of its difference with other subjects. In addition, music can also make class more alive and more exciting.

The fourth is for speaking skill. Teacher can ask students to act a dialogue about  islamic event, like  having a journey to Mecca for hajj. Then teacher can also ask them to retell the story about heroes of islam or their favourite figure in islam. Those things will stimulate them to be active at class and dare to speak.

In brief, there are many things we can do to teach English in islamic way. Start from the 4 basic skills such as reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Then we  can also continue to imply those things on daily life. English will be very useful if we arrange it well.
